From June 1 to 4, 2026, PhD student Phoebe Ching, along with he co-supervisor Rob Allison and co-collaborator Scott MacKenzie, attended the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) Symposium on Eye Tracking Research & Applications (ETRA) in Marrakech, Morocco. Here she submitted a paper on her research on Gaze behaviour in a dual VR head pointing-and-walking task (see paper here: https://dl.acm.org/doi/full/10.1145/3797246.3803028). An idea originally conceived while attending Scott’s course on computer human interaction. Pheobe also completed the work with the assistance of Wilcox Lab member CéAnn Marks.
Pheobe presented a poster summarizing her paper on the impact of physically walking on eye gaze movement and eye tracking in virtual reality. During which she received strong positive responses from the tracking and gaze research community for its application to real-world situations and industry.
Phoebe's work was one of two papers selected by the conference committee to give a talk, in addition to a poster presentation, for the outstanding quality of the work and the general interest in the topic.
